I spent this Friday night hanging out with my friends Gecko and Baby-Poppa (nick namez) It was pretty fun- we walked around my neighborhood while dancing, listening to Fall Out Boy, and generally being weird. Afterwards we went to Gecko's house and had some Miso Tofu Kale soup that was tasty. After dark we went out and jumped on the trampoline with flashlights, ran to the park nearby, sat in the street, and talked about being in high school. It was great.
It's nights like these that I'm especially grateful for people like that. People who are totally okay with talking about being young and being vulnerable on top of a jungle gym at 9pm. These are my people. I spent so much time living in Illinois without having my people. I didn't have a best friend, I didn't fit in. My mum always told me "You will someday. You will meet a person or two and it will be like you've know each other forever and it will be great." I never listened to her, thinking "but I need those people now and they aren't here. What use are they when they aren't here?"
But now I've got people and they are here for me. That's what I'm grateful for. I'm grateful for trampolines, miso soup, collaging, and polaroids.
I hope you all have your people, readers.
