Today's post is a joy to write about: how much I really loved Miu Miu's 2015 collection! 60s inspired fun complete with shifts, layered collars, crazy amazing colors, and patterns galore! Here are some of my favorite things from it, besides the fact that they now have Miu Miu barbies.
I am in love with the use of prints and patterns in it! Stripes, hounds-tooth, the kind of thing I remember being on the blankets my grandma would make. It seems they are most often paired with a solid, like the solid colored shifts, or occasionally with another print like a striped shirt and hounds-tooth skirt.
THE SHOES! Regardless of the collection, designer, or popularity I will almost always love the shoes. They are just what my eye is drawn to, and I do not apologize for spending my time looking at the feet of a model first when they come on the runway, and the ensemble and accessories later. These ones are cool and still go along with the retro 60s/50s aesthetic. Pointy toes, big buckles, bright plastic- even if I wouldn't wear them (saying this like I might ever have the money for it. Ha.) but I still like to watch other people wear them.
The jewelry. Some of the jewelry, the big earrings and necklaces, remind me of the 'statement' jewelry trend that was really popular in 2013-2014. The large faux looking opaque jewels set in flower patterns probably the size of your palm top the Miu Miu collection perfectly. For me it seems like almost everything they do is mean to make you laugh- in a good way. In a good "That's actually awesome!" kind of way. Despite the fact that at a first glance it may seem goofy, you don't really see the classic silhouette it mimics. It's hiding genius under something that makes you really smile. I really admire that.
