Discontinued

Aloha, friends. Here is an announcement:
I'm discontinuing the Style Analysis posts. I've realized that they aren't really part of the goals I have for Prism- I'm writing this because I like talking about fashion, and cool things, and individuality. These posts that are creating little boxes of style not only frustrate me, but I'm sure have frustrated some of you. It's kind of hard to be unique when dozens of fashion books, blogs, and magazines are telling you style comes in a neat little package with certain dresses and shoes and jewelry you need to wear if you want it.
I'm not saying pursuing a certain look is bad, but confining yourself to your own little style tribe thing usually is putting more of a damper on your creativity, rather than freeing it. Style is about inventing what you like. It's about making something new from something old. It's about copying something, but then making it completely different.
In the wise words of the fab Kate Spade " My advice is pretty simple: Think on your feet and be resourceful. I don't fixate on a particular style. I buy an object for no other reason than I like it." Buying and making things that you like and not things you see others liking will not only make you end up with a bunch of cool new stuff, but will make you more true to yourself.
My Style Analysis posts were confining, saying that if you wanted style it had to have a name, and X,Y, and Z. That's the opposite of what I want you guys thinking, and I'm sorry if I pushed that on you.
