A not long but actually really long trip

These are some of the pictures I got of the ride from our house down to Detroit. I was messing around with the settings, and focuses, and all that fun camera stuff this weekend so I got a couple more cool ones. I love the sunsets in Michigan, and I've always loved the look of lights against a dark night (you will see my Pinterest aesthetic boards littered with neon lights at midnight) It was fun to figure out making something like that. Recently I read the 'Make Good Art' speech by Neil Gaiman- the book version designed and edited by the King of Graphic Design, Chip Kid. Seriously, two insanely talented people who made really good art together. Brings a non-sarcastic tear to my eye. It was really inspiring- it says that even if you don't get famous, even if it is little and insignificant, you should try to make it good. Make it good by your own standards and make it to fill the need of creativity you have.
Make good art, readers.

handmade necklace, secondhand cardigan and jacket
My face wasn't cooperating today enough for a picture, friends. It's exam week and my lack of sleep has been catching up with me. I don't lose sleep because I study though. Of course I have to study, and I do study a lot, but I really don't understand the people who stay up late into the night for it. You are just making your brain all squishy with sleep deprivation, and you will remember nothing. It's not really accomplishing anything. Good luck in all of your tests, readers
Hope you get a restful week.

Claire's Flower crown, DIYed ART headband from Deb, Target t-shirt, second hand earrings
The ART headband I'm wearing was actually a broken clearance headband I found at Deb when the outlet in our mall was closing. It originally said 'PARTY' but with the Y snapped off. I snapped off the P and ta da! Art! I don't party, I'm an arty farty.
I'm actually in Detroit (or a suburb of it) right now visiting family. It's always cool to come down here- this is where I spent late kindergarten through the middle of second grade before we moved to Illinois. Some of my favorite sites are, of course, our old house. It had a blue swing set out back that was SUPER cool and was right by the grade school where I was in one of my first little talent shows. The bridge to Canada was cool- Detroit is one of the only places where Canada is south. Me, my dad, and Amazon always loved the Detroit Institute of Art (We simply called it the DIA) It was my first and favorite art museum and I have a distinct memory of how on Friday or Saturday nights the DIA would have a craft night for kids. It was around Halloween and the DIA had set up a station where you could design sugar skulls for Day of the Dead. It was super spooky (Ha) and is one of my favorite memories. There was a golden donkey statue in the basement, and we loved it so much we named it Wilbur, I think. Somewhere in downtown Detroit there was this little mexican restaurant where the family would go often. It had great authentic stuff, and there was always a stage for live music, but never any live musicians. Amazon and I, every time, would get those Jarritos sodas. We would drink them, peel off the wrapper, and walk around with our empty bottles clinking them together and talking into them to make our voices echoey. Those were the days. Those memories are so distinct. I can remember the music that was popular then. I can remember the little inside jokes Amazon and I had. I can remember my first grade teacher's name. I'm glad I still remember it.

Have a spooky week readers.

Charlotte Russe bomber, Old Navy hoodie, second hand t-shirt
Not much to say today, readers. Finals are coming up next week so I may not post as much as usual. Sorry, but my future is at stake, friends. News is: they finally announced the school musical. They are doing BEAUTY AND THE BEAST! I am SO excited- I think I will try to audition for Chip.  Problem is I can't sing. Oh well. DO IT WITH CONFIDENCE, READERS

Reasons

Reasons why flannel is great
1. Warm.
2. Cool looking- duh
3. You can channel either Kurt Cobain or Alex Hirsch (you know who I would choose)
4. My HERITAGE (Welsh, Irish, and Scottish royalty, bub.)
5. You can have a million and almost NO one will argue
6. Good for layering
Reasons to try
1. If you try to do things now, it will be easier to get off your butt later
2. You will regret not trying later.
3. People notice if you try hard, and that usually makes them want to try
4. If you do it with confidence, like having a million flannel shirts, no one will argue.
5. Trying makes you cooler.
6. It's in honor of all the people who tried really hard so you can.
Reasons why I like to blog
1. You guys are fun to talk to
2.  It puts purpose in my life
3. Helps me analyze past and current events and dwell on future ones
4. An excuse to gush over whatever I want
5. Good way to organize all the visual stuff and word stuff in my head.
Have a jolly week, readers.
