Howdy, guys! We're off to go to Mackinac Island today- therefore, no posts for the next two days. Despite the fact that I have lived in Michigan for close to 5-6 years, I have never been to Mackinac. I'm pretty excited- I will bring back lots of pictures. Probably too many.
Anyway, just a heads up to where I will be. Have a good rest of your weekend!

Style Crush: Charlie Barker

Charlie Barker; the Instagram favorite whose posts look more like works of art has drawn me in with her colorful hair recently, to the world of colorful grunge. I first saw her, not online, but in a Teen Vogue article about her recent rise to fame and becoming a model. I liked her hair, I liked her style. Check it out.

Waking up 'early' gets harder every morning. Of course, I can do more stuff and get things done, like this, but there is also the fact that I am simply not functioning as well in the morning. My typing sucks, I get distracted, I spend what feels like a few minutes that turns into hours just staring at blank sheets of paper.

World's okayest post

Summer is almost over. We have about four more weeks left until it gives way to syllabi, new books, and band camp. I'm not complaining though. I usually like school up until the middle of December. Amazon and I will be sharing a locker, and school means that I have justification in dressing nice again. Of course, I can dress for myself, but it's harder to come up with an excuse for people/my parents when I am wearing a full-on dress outfit on a sleepy Saturday.

Amazon and I biked down to my old middle school to creepily peer into it's windows. Not creepy at all, especially since no one was there, and we were just hoodlums in a dress hanging out for no reason.

The school is about thirty minutes away, so it became a whole adventure that was stopped in the middle because we wanted to buy things at the gas station. Right next to the gas station is this little pharmacy filled with a confusing mix of random medicines, greeting cards, mugs, and christian themed decor. It's essentially Walgreens without the name brand.

Billy has been in my dreams

Hey, guys.
Happy Saturday.
Today is closing night on Frankenstein. I'm really pumped, because the last night is always the best, but it doesn't feel right, like I haven't put enough into the show. I showed up for eight days, pushed some stuff around, then have to go home. It's a really cool show, though. I'll miss everyone from it, since I've only known some of them for eight days. For some of them, it's been closer to 3/4 years. Post Show Depression will definitely claim me for some time. Other that that, the show is going great, and I haven't terribly messed up anything yet.
In  other news...

I have been waking up early again, me and Amazon have been planning to go on an epic morning bike ride, but every time I wake up, she doesn't. So I go into her room.
M- Are you going to get up?
A-Mndnnow
M- Dude.
A- Not right now. Later.
M- When later.
A- Why are you here?
M- Because you told me to wake you up.
A- Mmmal;dj.
(M flicks on light)
A- NooAOAwOAAaAAAW
M- Whatever. (shuffles out of room)
I took a few good photos though, since the light was really cool.

Anyway, we recently got to go to this cute little bookshop downtown yesterday. It's going out of buisness, so everything was under 2 $. This isn't all that I bought, but I thought I would share my love for books from the 50s here.

Robin Kane- I love vintage-y mystery books. This one is pretty good, and I like the characters quite a bit. I liked it more than the Nancy Drew series, and the cover/illustrations are cool. Besides that one part where the car broke down and Robin is like "Michael, I wish I could help you fix the car, but what I don't know about vehicles could fill a book!" which is fine, but then 'attractive' Michael is like "That's alright, Robin. Dames aren't supposed to know about cars." Just because I don't know about cars doesn't mean I shouldn't.

The Dana Girls Mysteries- This was written by the same author that wrote the Nancy Drew books, and to be honest, I didn't really like them. The mysteries were nice, and the covers are cool, but I just don't like the Dana sisters. They're a little arrogant and hateful. Sorry, Carolyn Keene, but just because your characters aren't a fan of some people doesn't make them realistic.

Girl Scout Handbook- Being a former girl scout, this is pretty cool to me. It's got these awesome illustrations and descriptions of badges I got back in the day.

Things we Like: Marina and the Diamonds

Imagine this; a basement covered in wood paneling, concrete, and yellowed tiles. A carpet with two couches on it. They're facing an old t.v and a red brick fireplace that hasn't been used in a while. The t.v has a wii attached to it, and as a result Just Dance the game is blasting loudly from it. 'Oh No!' by Marina and the Diamonds, specifically.

This was my introduction to music time, along with discovering Regina Spektor, Fun., and other bands who would define that period. Marina and the Diamonds is one of them, and has endured my changing opinions and likes to this point where I still like her music. 

Plus the fact that she is gorgeous- I want her hair more than life sometimes.

And thus concludes my love for dear Marina.
