The drama duck is a metaphor for what you should do during a show- majority of the time if you ask a director about it, they will know. The idea is that on top- the visible part of the duck- everything is chill and happy, while underneath the water the duck's feet are paddling like crazy to keep it moving forward at a decent pace. I have gotten several little rubber ducks dressed up as various things (I have a cheerleader, geisha, and cowboy) from past shows as a memory thing. I did this little doodle while at a set strike a week ago, and I liked it so here it is. I accidentally left it there, so my poor little drama duck could be anywhere, at the mercy of anyone.
It's at times like this that I need to channel Andy Goldsworthy and let go of my art.
Don't know who my art boy Andy is?
A sculptor/artist kind of guy, he just goes out into nature and makes things like this. And then he lets them go. He will make a rainbow style string of leaves to float down a stream and knows that it will fall apart as it goes. And he makes way cooler stuff than drama duck. If he can let go, so can I.
