Saturday Slice Pic

Hello friends, from the past. I'm writing this post on Thursday, actually, scheduling it for today; Saturday. I'm actually in Illinois right now, soaking up the corn drenched, humid, Abraham Lincoln tainted air. Amazon wanted to visit our old town for the eighth grade graduation that she was going to miss since we moved. We're going back just for that so she can surprise her old friends.
Me? I never really liked it there (I've talked about this) I didn't have many pals, I was pretty awkward, and I just didn't fit in. It wasn't a fun time, and I'm not really looking forward to that part of memory lane. I am interested in  visiting some old places that I remember, like the comic shop 'Metropolis' that we visited, our favorite hot dog place 'The Dog House', the old playground I would bike to in the summer, and the restaurant where Bean was nearly born 'Liberty'. I'm looking forward to visiting the place that nurtured my love for small town, summer, and wallflower aesthetics.
When I first heard about the trip, I was all fired up to pull out my weirdest most boss-queen outfits, but now I'm leaning towards something a bit more casual. But different from them. Them. Here is some inspiration for it:

Anyway, Happy Memorial Day. Have fun in the various things you do this weekend. Put on sunscreen. Forgive me for my lack of posts.
On the road again, readers.

Name that plant

FRIENDS! I GOT A NEW PLANT!
I got a new succulent from the flawless Katherine after her birthday party- and GuYs It'S In A tEAcUP It's SO CUTE! I haven't named it yet, though I have named the bamboo next to it; it's name is Kirk. I am opening up the naming option to you guys though! What do you think the cute new succulent's name should be?
In other news. I started playing mellophone for the band. For those of you who don't know, the mellophone is the marching version of a french horn, even though it looks more like a big trumpet and has different notes than a horn. It's really heavy- that's all I have to say on the subject. My trembling white pipe cleaners of arms are going to be SO buff at the end of parade season.
Mine is definitely not this shiny. Mine's really dented and kind of gross looking

On the way to Illinois! I will write about that later I think. Happy Friday! Talk to y'all soon
Y'all. Y'all readers.

Napoleon Bonaparte Mini-comic

This is a comic that a friend and I worked on in history the other day. We are learning about the french revolution (which is actually really interesting) and decided to do a series of comics based around it and the rest of history. It's not very polished but it was very fun to make.

Katherine's Birthday

You guys remember Katherine? The cute red head whom I have done photo-shoots with, made style analysis' about, and talked about a lot? It was her sixteenth birthday party yesterday! She threw a tea party/ The Secret Garden themed event- and IT WAS SO AESTHETIC! These are some of the girls who attended; all looking as queenly as heck.

This is what I wore: an ACTUAL 1950s dress, fake pearls, red lipstick, pearl clip, kitten heals, and a velvet cloche hat (not shown in picture)

My dirty shoe

I hold my pen really weirdly- it took a lot of teachers to try and change it and they never did. I can hold my pencil both ways. This way and the 'right way'

I struggle with drawing light. I love high-contrast, colorful, light focused images and it's something I want to try working on. Notice in all the pictures- the light isn't just white or yellow the way you think it might be shown; it's pink, it's orange, it changes the image, it shows the important part of the piece. It's BEAUTIFUL. I will try to do some more drawings in color eventually...

Art Inspiration: Kelsey Beckett

Kelsey Beckett is like the really hip, modern, female version of Mucha. The florally images, the pretty girls, the romantic atmosphere, the dripping with dreams aesthetic that is just so gorgeous? Ms. Beckett and Mr. Mucha, please.
Here is Kelsey's work (YOU QUEEN, YOU)
