On August 1st around 11:05 p.m Billy Braufedas (Bruh-fay-dus) Brown died of unknown causes. He had a simple service in the Brown's backyard. Billy started his life as part of an experiment in Mr. Streeter's science class, and after being relieved of his duty to science was given to Mandarin. He lived a good life, full of Christmas music (his favorite), eating at 5:40 a.m and 5:30 p.m, and tapping his nose on the glass when he saw someone he liked. He was loved by his whole family and will be missed.
I wrote that after we buried him in our backyard, around midnight. It's weird, I couldn't understand why I was so exceptionally upset. He didn't do much. He was a fish who swam around in my bowl and would occasionally scare me by lying on the bottom of his bowl. We didn't do much together.
 It might have been the fact that it was really late, and I was sleep deprived. It might have been because I was kind of scared that I might have accidentally killed him.
I think it's because he was my pet. Regardless of whether he was a goldfish, or a dog, or a dragon, whatever- he was still mine. I fed him everyday. He was aware of me in my room, shifting on my bed, and I was aware of him in my room, tapping the glass when it was dark.
I think that justifies emotion. 
Anyway, I loved Billy. I'm pretty sure you guys did too, after all the posts I did about him. This is the last one just about him.

Stuff We Like: Marc with a C

Have you seen that one meme? Some Starbucks worker was told that the customer's name was Marc with a C, so the worker wrote 'Carc' on the cup. Very funny. ANYWAY, that ancient meme brings me to the first fashion post I have done in decades (hyperbole). I was re-drawn to it, when I accidentally came across the fall/winter collection on Pinterest, and oh my heavens.


Who could resist? So I guess I'm back at it. Let me talk to you about this.
1. First Favorite thing- the colors. Or lack of color. I love the dark gothic mix of black, charcoal, white, navy, maroon, and the occasional olive-y yellow. It's so fall-ish, but you wouldn't expect it to be. They don't sound very autumn until you look at them with the tweeds, and the silkier fabrics, and the leather pleats, UGH. It's very Cruella Deville plus Mary Poppins plus the-goth-girl-who-sits-in-the-back-of-the-classroom.

2.The Coats and skirts- I've talked about my love of jackets. This is nothing new. What is new, is my renewed love for skirts.I've been trying to come up with more outfits with them, despite the fact that it is summer and I live in pants for summer. There is something that is 'fashion-y' about skirts to me. They just look so nice, and I really love the ones here; especially the leather and tweed ones. The difference of the materials, something so iconic and classic like tweed clashes perfectly with edgy, modern, and futuristic pleated leather. It's just a cool mix.
 

3.The Makeup- BLACK LIPSTIIICKKK. Everyone, at some point in their life, had their goth phase. Mine hasn't totally ended, and the makeup for this collection spoke to eight year old me on a spiritual level. With the slicked back hair, dark eyebrows, and dark lip; it is the idealized version of the gothic queen I imagine in my head. It's another example of clashing in the show, the difference of the classic silhouettes and the edgy look. It werks.

And thus, my rebound fashion thingy is done. 

How to make a shrine

Love is important. *cue the cheesy 80s ballad*. Very important. No, I don't think I'm going to talk about relationships (even though I have lots of experience, right? eh heheh. naw.) I'm going to talk about the fangirling aspect of loving. When you love something so much, even if it isn't real, that your angsty teen heart trembles at the thought of it. One of the many ways to express your unending feelings is to dedicate a small shrine to it. Here is how to make your perfect tribute.

1. Decide what you want to dedicate it to. It could be a fandom ( I have a wall dedicated to Gravity Falls it's my Gravity Walls get it?), a person (Tavi Gevinson, Alex Hirsch, and Lin-Manuel Miranda all  have a place in me and Amazon's locker), or an activity ( I have a mini-shrine to theater and all of the shows I have been in). It needs to be important enough to you that you will feel much better when thinking about it. Again, the heart trembling thing I was talking about.

2. Location- Now you have to scope out a place to put all of this. If you are like me, most of your flat surfaces are already covered in stuff. Now I am moving on to covering my walls in tributes. Or you could put it on a desk, on a closet door, in the closet, bookshelf, window, wherever there is room! Make sure it is in a place where it won't be disturbed or destroyed.

3. Gather-  Now that you know what and where, you need a how. Gather magazine clippings, print off pictures, gather toys, items, cds, dvds, etc.- anything that reminds you of your dear dear tribute. This is one of the most fun parts; you get to spend your undivided time with your loves and creating! This should take the longest.

4. Arrange- I've got a decorator mom. Our house is surprisingly nice looking because she knows how to arrange things. This is when you take all of your hardwork and location scouting and combine it to create the ultimate tribute, dedication, shrine to your loves. You can now look at it daily, pondering the greatness of who you dedicated it to, and the greatness of yourself because gosh dang, it looks good. Enjoy.
